The AEDP board of directors is comprised of stakeholders representing a range of business sectors including: financial, real estate, hospitality, marketing, information technology, and professional associations. The Board assists in guiding the organization through the creation of strategic plans, overseeing the development of an annual budget, and achieving its mission and goals.

Scott Shaw

Scott’s 17-year experience with three startup foodservice companies led him to found a successful software company, Fishbowl, in 2000. After 15 years, he’s back in the restaurant and retail scene in Alexandria.

Kerry Donley

Kerry served as mayor of the City of Alexandria from 1996 to 2003 and as vice mayor from 1994 to 1996 and 2009 to 2012. He has a long history of leadership in various community and business organizations.

Dave Millard

Dave is a principal with Avison Young and has vast experience in real estate, landlord and corporate tenant representation, was the 2013-2014 chairman of NAIOP Northern Virginia, and serves on local nonprofit boards.

Chris has a diverse financial background and serves on the Alexandria City Public Schools long-range planning work group, supporting AEDP’s interest in promoting education as an important economic development issue.

Marcy Anderson

Marcy founded her company in 2005 following her involvement in a variety of successful startups, and served as chairwoman of the Alexandria Small Business Development Center from 2009 to 2011.

David Cleary

David Cleary has arranged acquisitions and related transactions for over a hundred U.S. and foreign healthcare corporations. He is also the founder of SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now), an organization that has helped thousands of abused children find safe, permanent homes.

David Heiden

David is an Alexandria native with an interest in historic preservation and expertise in communications; he serves as the citizen representative on the board of directors.

A.J. Jackson

A.J. is a Senior Vice President at EYA. He is involved in several residential projects in Alexandria, including The Oronoco, Old Town Commons, and Robinson Terminal South.

Mark Jinks
City of Alexandria
As City Manager, Mark carries out the policy directives of the City Council and manages the daily operations of City government. From 2004 – 2014 he served as Deputy City Manager where he oversaw efforts related to planning, land use, transportation, code administration, historic preservation, and more. He is the City government’s appointee to the board of directors.

Through her work as Executive Director of Brokerage at The Rappaport Companies, a regional leader in commercial retail leasing and development, Melissa has leased more than 100,000 sf of retail space in Alexandria.

Gabriela Canamar Clark serves as Principal at LandDesign in Old Town Alexandria. She is a Rosemont resident and ACPS parent who has also served on their Business Advisory Council.
