The Board of Architectural Review (BAR)- Old and Historic District will hold their regular monthly meeting where items of interest include request for alterations and signage for a new restaurant- Magnolia's on King and a work session to discuss the proposed self-storage development project at 3640 Wheeler Avenue, site of a historic building.
The City will continue to hold a series of Budget Work Sessions focused on specific topics This week's session will cover Alexandria City Public Schools.
The Alexandria Redevelopment Housing Authority (ARHA) is hosting a community meeting to discuss the process initiated to redevelop five sites in its portfolio. The five sites are: Andrew Adkins; ARHA Administrative Building; Samuel Madden Homes Uptown; Hopkins Tancil Courts; and Cameron Valley. Replacement of the existing residences will be executed at a one-for one ratio as stated in City Council Resolution 830. A Request for Proposal was issued by ARHA in January of 2014. A series of steps in the process have culminated in a short-list of qualified developers who will compete to redevelop the sites. ARHA will select one proposal, per site from the short-listed respondents. An Evaluation Committee selected by ARHA will evaluate all proposals and select the most responsive and responsible proposal that promotes sustainable, mixed-income communities that are well integrated with the surrounding neighborhood. This meeting covers Hopkins-Tancil Courts and the ARHA Adminsitrative Office.
The March Del Ray Business Association (DRBA) monthly lunch will feature City Council member Justin Wilson who will speak on happenings in the City and John Porter with ACT who will give an update on Spring2Action.
City Council will hold their monthly public hearing where items of interest include consideration of a change to an existing Special Use Permits (SUP) to expand the restaurant and add seating to the Waterfront Market; a Rezoning and Development SUP (DSUP) for the Old Dominion Boat Club's new building at the site of the Beachcomber restaurant; and a DSUP and related approvals for the potential TSA headquarters office development on Eisenhower East Block 2 by JBG Associates.
